There's an ache in my heart and it's telling me where to go, only I don't know where it's pointing. I'm lacking a compass and a map.

Happy Monday, folks. How have you been doing?

Today I had an essay prompt to write about a personal hero or three people that shouldn't be considered heroes. I tried to think, I really did, but aren't heroes supposed to be people you look up to? People that inspire you?

Where's one of those people when I need one?

  1. Are you saying that you don't look up to anyone? Nobody at all? Not even someone who, say, made a difference to you when you were, say, five? Or maybe someone who held a door open for you?

But really, a hero can be whoever you want it to be. Even if it's not...correct, I guess.

    Good luck.

  2. Yourself. The only person who'll always be with you.

  3. Of course I look up to someone.
"I'm a part of all I have met."
A hero in my mind isn't someone who taught me life lessons or just showed me a bit of kindness.
A hero is someone that isn't afraid of rejection. Fear doesn't exist to them.
But aren't we all afraid of something?

  4. Wow. I'm going to be honest- that confused me. I don't know what it meant to everyone, but I perceive everything you write in my own ways. I like the part about lacking a compass & map.

  5. In my humble opinion, a hero is anyone who has made a positive contribution to who you are--they most certainly do not have to be perfect, or unafraid; for example, the authors that you have read...have they not inspired you, given you food for thought and changed the way you perceive life? Or even our family members and/or dear friends. I can think of several people who contributed to my life in very unselfish and inspiring ways, and I am a better person because of their existance...just something to ponder.

That...that is so unbelievably true, it actually floored me when I read it. But it's true, we're all afraid of something. So maybe, maybe you're right.
